Hmm, is it just me or is there still some noticable friction between the re-united Stooges? There are a couple of somewhat cringe-inducing moments for both Iggy and Ron Asheton whenever the other is talking…namely when Ron quotes Iggy as admitting he ran out of ideas, and when Iggy talks of lifting the band up for so long that he couldn’t go on. Jonathan Ross plays his part too when generously referring to Iggy as having achieved great solo success and Ron as having been in other great rock’n'roll bands (both statements lean on the generous side of untruth). Meanwhile Scott “Rock Action” Asheton remains almost completely silent for the entire interview. For a fan, it’s never nice to see these things…and in my heart I can’t see them remaining together for that much longer.

But who knows, I could be completely misreading the situation. Perhaps it’s just the result of having to sit around the show’s fake green room, which seemed to frustrate Win Butler of Arcade Fire in another recent episode to the point of smashing a camera and storming off stage just as the song is ending. Thankfully, both of these performances are up to par, and seeing Iggy Pop set loose on what has to be the stiffest audience he may have ever played in front of us is worth a viewing in itself – let alone the talk of smoking spider cobwebs.
