It’s Official: Godspeed You! Black Emperor Are No Longer

admin on Feb 10th 2008

Guitarist Efrim Menuck has revealed that instrumental post-rock ensemble Godspeed You! Black Emperor, who have drifted into an ambiguous hiatus since 2003, are unlikely to ever record or tour together again. Speaking in an interview with Drowned in Sound, Menuck revealed that he experienced “an existential freak-out” about the increasing “one-way communication” between the band and their audiences. Citing a complicated back story, Menuck describes how he now finds the influential Canadian band’s efforts as something “inappropriate” to pursue, signalling for the first time in public the group’s official end.
