New Birth – ‘Honey Bee’

White Williams – ‘New Violence’
There’s something incredibly familiar about this track…in a confounding, slightly amusing way. I know that hook from somewhere – I’m certain of it. The body of the tune works as a concoction of admirable influences, adapting the hip out of Eno, Bolan et al. into just the right shade of cool, not trying too hard and not taking too much either.

admin on Mar 28th 2008

Perhaps it was the name that mislead me, but M. Ward and actress Zooey Deschanel’s collaborative project had me expecting an album of luvy-duvy duets. In reality, Ward’s gravely croon makes few appearances here – and that’s not the only reason his fans may find this a somewhat frustrating listen. Continue Reading »

No Age have been riding their momentum in some style recently, building up some well-deserved attention in the process. To capitalise, the 7″ single ‘Eraser’ comes out on the 8th of April, providing a taster of their first fully-fledged album Nouns, to be released later in May on Sub-pop. The single comes with b-side cover versions of The Nerves, Nate Denver, and Urinals.
