Gig Overload
admin on Jun 9th 2008

After the free Plants and Animals show I intend to catch tonight, I’ll be heading back home for a few days where a seemingly unmissable string of gigs awaits. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to afford to get to them all, but I’m goin’ to try. I could put it all on the credit card and worry about the consequences later. Or, more likely, I’m going to have to make a sacrifice or two among these…and I’m thinking that might have to be Bonnie Prince Billy.
My next week of concerts looks like this:
Thursday June 12th – Lykke Li and El Perro Del Mar – Sugar Club
Friday June 13th – The Dodos – Crawdaddy
Leonard Cohen – IMMA, Kilmainham
Saturday June 14th – Fleet Foxes and Beach House – Whelan’s
Dan Deacon, Jape, Deerhunter, White Williams, High Places – Vicar St.
Sunday June 15th – Baby Dee and Bonnie Prince Billy – Vicar St.
Monday June 16th – Prince – Croke Park
Iggy and The Stooges – IMMA, Kilmainham
Tuesday June 17th – Working For A Nuclear Free City – Crawdaddy
That’s six consecutive nights. And I haven’t even looked at the prices yet…
UPDATE: So Prince was cancelled, Lykke Li sold out (but I still managed to get a ticket the day before), the offer of a ticket to Leonard Cohen was too good to pass up so The Dodos got the chop, I managed to combine Fleet Foxes and the Future Days extravangza by hopping in a taxi down to Vicar St. at 22.45, Bonnie Prince Billy had to be sacrificed (I have heard mixed reports about that performance anyway), and I won tickets to see The Stooges at the last minute. Whew.
