The Chills – ‘Pink Frost’
There’s a strange quality to this song that leaves me completely captivated. It starts off sprightly and upbeat, promising a catchy pop song. But little by little, it creeps subtly towards a gentle refrain of despair – so much so, that it draws you back, checking to make sure if it’s the same song, and if so, how it happened. This isn’t the first time I’ve posted a track from from New Zealand’s ’80s underground and, given the qualities these songs seem to share, you have to hand it to the Kiwis…
