Hurray for the Riff Raff – Bricks

It may well be the Louisiana twang, but this song is very reminiscent of Jolie Holland’s Southern pastoral style. But what I like most is that the arrangement is hardly there: a glockenspiel, a wheezing accordion, a banjo and maybe even a clarinet just whittling away quietly, breezing along in a muggy July. Hurray for the Riff Raff are a four-piece from New Orleans with ‘a collection of songs meant to break your heart and lift your spirits’.
