Mellowdrone – Wherever You May Go
Jonathan Bates has been consistently diverse since forming Mellowdrone 10 years ago but rather than lose the opportunity to establish an audience, he caught the attention of Johnny Marr and a subsequent supporting slot led to tours with the Killers and Elbow, as well as the release of the band’s debut album, Box, in 2006. Its follow-up, Angry Bear, has just come out and is as willfully obtuse as ever – but this track captures the poppier side of Mellowdrone nicely.
