Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is one of the best live acts around at the moment; the kind that know how to get a crowd going even if you’ve never heard of them before. At the group’s core are seven brothers who have been in a family band since 1984, their father having been Sun Ra’s trumpeter through the ’50s. At last week’s Electric Picnic, the only tent that was harder to get into than the Ensemble’s was Florence and the Machine – warranting a surprise slot at the Body & Soul stage later that day. The good news is they’re due back in the UK and Ireland next month, with dates in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Bristol, London, Galway, Cork, Dublin and Limerick.
