Dead Man’s Bones – Dead Hearts

This one is perfect for some late night listening… Ever since Bon Iver blew up, it seems that a lot of new acts have caught on to the fact that having a charming backstory can send your songs blazing through the blogosphere. Recently someone suggested to me that Summer Camp is just one guy and a self-generated mythology, so from now on I shall remain sceptical… But I do like the sound of Dead Man’s Bones being two guys who hated each other, forced to spend time together because they were dating twins, until their mutual obsession with the paranormal led them to try to compose a ghost story musical.

In this case, I guess it doesn’t really matter if it’s true or not. I’ve had this album for a few months, during which time it has grown on me stealthily, whereas I only learned of the backstory tonight… along with this video:
