Originally recorded when George Harrison passed away in 2001, this beautiful take on the All Things Must Pass track is part of a six-song EP covering the work of the former Beatle. Just as the My Morning Jacket frontman revitalised Bob Dylan’s Going to Acapulco for the I’m Not There soundtrack, these renditions are paired back but powerful. Jim James & Calexico – ‘Goin’ to Acapulco’
As the highlight of the Bob Dylan biopic ‘I’m Not There‘, the impromptu live performance of this song brought the film to a standstill. On the double CD of cover versions that comprise its soundtrack, once again it stands out head and shoulders above the rest. A lovely interpretation of the original and a priceless spotlight on both My Morning Jacket and Calexico.
