Noah and the Whale – The First Days of Spring
This is the first taster of what Noah and the Whale’s forthcoming album will sound like and, as mentioned in my live review of their London show in March, it’s a clear that a new direction is on the way: darker, brooding, grandiose and… much more serious. Mumford & Sons – The Cave
Now that Noah and the Whale have traded in their sound and seem ready to take on stadia-sized audience, their friends Mumford & Sons could prove to be ready-made replacements as family-orientated folk heroes. I first heard of Noah and the Whale when they were in Austin shooting a Take Away Show in a rented house with Vincent Moon during SXSW. Since then, their heartwarming live shows has seen them pick up slots on the stages of Glastonbury, Oxegen, Lollapalooza, V, Field Day, and the End of the Road festivals, all this summer.
