Spirit Spine – Flashes

Panda Bear may not be the only one to make a splash with one-man harmonies in 2010. Spirit Spine (Indiana’s Joseph Denny) has been steadily gleaming praise from music blogs for the past year, but later this month his new album Jungle Bridges drops, taking that infectious force even further. Sore Eros – Whisper Me

Sore Eros – Whisper Me

Sore Eros is a gorgeously lo-fi bedroom project that began when Robert Robinson, who has previously collaborated with Panda Bear and Ariel Pink, discovered a tape of his old high-school friend Adam Langellotti. At the moment he’s got a gorgeous four-track demo, a Daytrotter session booked for late January and some appearances lined up at SXSW 2010. Get on it. Continue Reading »

Paralyze Humanity Sequence – Hammock

Hipster Runoff wrote a tongue-in-cheek post yesterday about the abundance of lo-fi “chillwave” sounds emerging this summer and then took the opportunity to proclaim it as a new genre. For anyone who might think I’m just posting new songs I like, the number of acts popping up with washed-out ’summery’ sounds is an accurate reflection of what’s out there at the moment. But if you’ve been enjoying it so far, you’ll like this one. Part ‘Blue Moon’, part Everly Brothers, part Panda Bear = a summertime lullaby. Continue Reading »
